WHAT IS HYDRONIC CENTRAL HEATING
Central heating provides heat to the entire home from one central location. A hydronic central heating system has three parts:
- The heat source (various types of boilers - waste/oil/diesel/gas/wood for example and hot water heat pumps are the main types of heat sources)
- The heat emitter (how warmth is delivered into the actual room - under floor heating or radiators)
- The heating water pipes (used to distribute heat from source to emitter)
A Hydronic central heating system circulates heated water through a network of heating pipes to in-room emitters (underfloor heating, radiators or heat convectors).
These emitters create radiant heat: a type of warmth that’s evenly transferred around the room/home by natural convection.
